The results of the Class 12 examinations have been made public after a delay of over three months, leading to a postponement in the commencement of undergraduate classes by universities. On July 30, 189,000 students were declared eligible for enrollment in undergraduate programs based on the public results. However, the initiation of undergraduate studies has not yet begun.
Despite the festive breaks, including Dashain, Tihar, Chhath, and Nepal Sambat, passing students have been idle for almost two months, and the commencement of the first year of undergraduate studies is yet to begin. The University Grants Commission announced the implementation of the academic calendar for higher education starting from the first week of Mangsir.
While universities have initiated the enrollment process, students are facing delays. Around 38,000 students have received permission to study abroad by obtaining the No Objection Certificate during this period. Approximately 20,000 students admitted to foreign universities are expected to complete their first semester on campuses operated by overseas institutions. Notably, universities and campuses nationwide, such as Tribhuvan University, Kathmandu, Pokhara, and Eastern, are witnessing the admission process.
